She & Lunaris
Once the kitten was settled and sleeping, She uncurled herself and stretched. Back tracking to the smaller feline's dwelling wasn't difficult. Her scent was exceptionally strong to the avatar; made so by her duty to the youth. Now appearing as her young charge, She found the house and an open window, to enter. Soft snores reached her perked ears as she paused, poised in the window. They slept while their child...
their child... agonized over the wrongs done to her. The fur over her body stood on end, as anger returned, engulfing her mind.
How dare they?! A low, soft growl formed in her throat, her ears folding back flat against her skull.
By the Mother, they will pay.Dropping into the house, She looked around the messy room. Things were piled here and there with no obvious organization. Snorting, She padded through the room to reach a hallway, lined with doors. A brief investigation only fanned the white hot flames of her anger higher. The rest of the house was much the first room. In another, she found a young pup, whimpering in distress. It nosed at the blankets on its bed, searchingly. She wanted to soothe the pup, but her task came first. A grumbled rebuke called out lead her to her destination.
Expecting the door from which the sound came from to swing open at her touch, She butted her head against it lightly. Then harder. Realizing that it wouldn't open, she yowled angrily. Hearing movement within, she continued until the door opened. Waiting only long enough to be noticed by the female figure there, She leapt. Claws outstretched and raking, she climbed the figure, growing angrily. The shriek of pain and rage sent a tremor of satisfaction through her. A larger, male figure joined the first, seeking to pull her away. She clamped her jaws on the larger figure's hand, needle-like teeth piercing deep into flesh. Both began their transformation, shouting angrily.
The smaller figure, the mother, shared the avatar's yowl of anger as her form twisted, while a low growl rumbled in the male. Soon, She was not faced with the pair's human forms, but their couple as hybrid's, towering over her. The male developed into the large, somewhat droopy features of a hunting hound, though not one in his prime. His human paunch carried over even into hybrid form. It was much the same with the female, becoming a tattered eared cat hybrid. Their hybrid forms revealed more neglect of self than the human, sending shockwaves of anger and indignation through the therian godess's avatar.
Do they think so little of her gifts?Angered and now put at a disadvantage, with her smaller size, She was determined to show them the depths of their wrong doing. Her own form began to change, though not with the pain and sounds that accompanied that of a therian's change. Her body shimmered, like heat rising over a great flame. Her spine lengthened and broadened as she grew, to support her new size. Where once a small calico clawed and scratched at a pair of hybrid therians, a cougar crouched, snarling her rage. Still, the pair pressed on.
She marveled at their audacity. They dared to struggle against her, even when she changed. The fact that she had become another creature and not a human should have set off alarms in their heads.
Have they no
intelligence? They stoked her anger, drawing a loud, piercing cry of rage from her. The cougar snarled again, tensing to pounce upon the hybrid dog's back as he turned, thrown off balance by her shift.
Even as she leapt, the fur over her body bristled. Power, rage, disapproval and vicious hatred hung in the air, like a blanket. She twisted to fall aside, her ears folding back. The hybrid cat, already torn and bleeding from the avatar's claws, yowled plaintively as her mate fell to huddle near her. She turned from them to look upon Lunaris.
The therian goddess stood over the trio, open disgust in her dark eyes. The canine therian crept forward, whimpering in fear. She lunged to interpose herself between the therian and goddess, but seemed to crash into a barrier just before them.
How dare he approach the Mother?! Lunaris scowled at him, kicking him away from her with a bare foot.
"You shame yourselves, your Pack and me," she began icily. Lunaris made a gesture and the two therians arced with a mingled cry of pain as they reverted to human form. Gasping and writhing, they looked to their goddess. The man tried to gasp her name, in shock. "Silence!" Her voice drowned out their sounds, even as they obeyed. "You have spurned my gifts," she continued, her voice deadly calm and cool. "So, I shall revoke them." Nearby, She blinked in surprise, her eyes slowly widening with some horror. Lunaris turned to her. "Go. You know your task." The avatar trembled a moment, before bolting from the house. As She ran, her form shrank and changed back to the black and white cat that had taken the kitten to the docks.
Lunaris returned her attention to the therians before her and made another gesture. The whimpering pup from the other room materialized in her arms, cradled to her. "Your children are mine, as they ever were. From this day, you have no rights to them. Even now, my avatar bears your eldest to safety, and I shall place the boy with worthy parents." Before they could object, the deity pressed on. "With the enhanced senses I have granted you, either of you could have descerned your daughter's distress. You neither tried nor cared. That too will be stripped of you." Her expression hardened before she spoke again. "Never again will you run beneath my gaze with your brethren. Though the desire, the need will return with each moon, you will remain in this form until the day that you die." Her voice rang with finality as she turned to leave the house as well, taking the pup with her.
