Leona Leona smiled and looked towards the lad, her hands calmly on her knees as she thought and picked through her emotions. "I greive, yes. As do many for my tribe. But I'm of night and day it seems - Caught between wanting to return to them and remaining here. Perhaps I will return - once I'm called upon to do so. The others'll send for me when they return from their travels." She looked over to the hides, she'd done what she could for them for now. Leaning back onto her bedroll she smirked at Helnas, "Thanks.. for the understanding. Why I eye you instead of the other lads. You care." She stretched once more, snickering childishly once again, "Your gonna burn the meat."

Helnas Helnas watched the younger woman as she composed herself, admitting her grief. He managed to keep from perking an eyebrow as she voiced her conflict, to remain or join her tribe. A part of him wished, very much, that she would remain with the Loden. Even without her recent revelations, he was accustomed to thinking of her as a part of Loden tribe. It would feel... odd without her. When she leaned back to speak again, he started to reply. Before he could, she reminded him of the cooking meat and Helnas bit back a curse, returning his attention to the darkening meat over the flames. "Of course I care, Leona," he replied, removing the meat from the flames to inspect it, making certain it was still good.

Leona Loden Leona smiled, "Mhmn, I know." She looked to the sky, "I think I'll remain here for a time, atleast until called, I'm sure I could make myself useful." She grinned slyly, looking to Helnas, "Perhaps I could try to not show up the more experianced hunters this time around.... I'm sure they'd appreciate less competition..." She couldn't help but smile at that thought. Once she'd learned what she was and just how well she could hunt as a Lioness she'd made it a point to once a week bring in the choice kill. Eyes closed for few moments as she inhaled the scents around her, she missed her lioness form, "Helnas... You ever wonder what it would be like to become a animal and stalk across the plains?"

Helnas The young woman noted her intentions to remain with the clan for a while, heartening him a little. She continued, shooting him a sly little grin as she included a taunt at the hunting skills of the other hunters amongst the clan. His lips curved in a slight smirk at the jab and he nodded. "Suppose they would, at that," he offered, pulling the meat from the fire to set aside. Juggling a piece on his fingers, he blew on the cooked strip, trying to cool it down. Leona was silent for a moment, then spoke again, asking if he had ever wondered what it would be like to be an animal. Pausing, the young man tilted his head a little with a curious look. Oh, there were plenty of times that the hunter was required to try to think their quarry, but that wasn't exactly what the lass was asking, was it? He tried to imagine it then, absently extending the cooled meat to her. "Not really..." he began, tilting his head a little to the other side. "I imagine it could be liberating in a way. Not worrying about anything aside from the moment. Why? Have you?"

Leona Leona's smile faltered slightly, but she hid it by taking the bite of cooled meat and chewed thoughtfully for a few moments, "I would love to run free and wild across the plains, I know survival would obviously be an issue but... well, lack of reasoning I would suppose. Cunning, yes, Intelligent not so much. All instinct." She' inhale the smell of the plains, the sun was low, but there would be a few more hours of light yet. She'd pause and look to Helnas and settled down upon her haunches, "You know..." She'd rub the side of her head as she thought for a few moments, "The women of the tribe always run around trying to cajole men into choosing one over the other, Who do you have your eyes on in the tribe? or have you even thought about finding a woman of your own?" She sounded thoughtful as she spoke, chewing slowly over that small chunk of meat, blue eyes looking over Helnas fully for the first time.

Helnas The young man didn't catch his companion's falter in expression as he spoke, and he reached to claim his own bite to eat. Again, he juggled the food, blowing on it to cool it down enough to eat while she spoke. Leona paused to look at him and settle nearby with a new question that surprised him even more than the previous one. "I..." he began, then stopped himself with a little shake of his head. "Honestly, no. I often wondered if father would need me to cement an alliance with another tribe, so I didn't want to get too attached to anyone in the tribe.I mean, I've been spending time with Banta, but..." Helnas trailed off, then shrugged a little. "Besides, I'm still young. There's plenty of time for finding a woman, isn't there?"

Leona Tilted her head slightly fo a few moments as she fetched anothr strip of meat, juggling it similarly to get it cooled down while she thought over the headsmans son's answer, "I see, Hmn. what if he was hoping you'd settle down with someone in the tribe?" Her teeth sank into the meat as she chewed it thoughtfully, "Would you marry someone seeking status? or would you marry out of love?" Perhaps a bit of wistful romanticism on Leona's part, she was adopted, that pretty much left her with no status, but also left her in a unique spot to think about things like this, "If you married out of love, and your love revealed something about herself that could rip such a union apart, how would you react? I mean she'd still be the same woman you loved and married, but no longer hiding naything, a completely open, transparent relationship, a show of her trust nd love if you will that she loves you enough to reveal her deepest sercrt." Yeah, she was fishing, prodding and looking to see how the lad would answer as she slowly shifted to lean baack and recline agaisnt her pack and roll, watching him searchingly now. Where this side of her had come from?

Helnas Leona fetched another strip of meat, cooling it in her hands for a moment before replying. When she did, he perked an eyebrow slightly at mention of his father hoping he would choose from the tribe. It was a possibility, and there weren't any tribes that they currently needed to form such a formal alliance with. The young woman continued and offered yet another query to the Head Man's son. He shook his head a little with a smile. "Of course I'd like to marry for love, Leona. It's just not always an option in my position. Unless something happens, my wife will be the Head Woman of the tribe. The tribe must approve," he replied. His smile turned rueful as he regarded her. "You were spared that particular speech from father, since you were adopted. You wouldn't have to worry about all that." Leona's next question made his brows rise even higher, surprise playing over his features. He took in her expression, watching him so carefully, and shook his head slightly. "I... I don't know. I suppose it would depend on the secret and the circumstances," he began thoughtfully. "If it were something she couldn't have helped, I would like the think that it wouldn't change anything between us..." Helnas gnawed at his own strip of meat for a moment, considering what she had said. After a moment, he cast her a teasing glower. "Father help us, when did you become deep, little one?"

Leona Leona was quite deep, she'd grown to be such in the last few years when she discovered much of her own past and had gained some worldly experiences. As she looked across at Helnas she'd giggle softly, "I was spared the lecture, but I still heard it. Remember, I'm quite fond of sneaking around in the grass outside of the village, being naked helps to since at the time I wasn't so darkly tanned and my hair blended in with the grass. Amazing the conversations you hear, and the things you can see when people sneak off on their own for the night..." She'd waggle her brows at Helnas as she chewed thoughtfully, "deep?... You could say that, I've always been, I think. Or I got 'deep' when I realized that puppy love kinda turned into something else..." She'd grow quiet, "I only asked that because...well... " She'd swallow and fidget a bit, "I found my tribe... the people who raised me, before I woke up and couldn't talk or anything, not knowing who I was... It terrified me. and.. I latched onto you and the Loden because I felt safe." she'd smile, "I came back because, yes, I have a tribe full of wonderful people I've helped re-establish, yes, I'm now a older, more confidant woman... but... " she'd glance upto Helnas, "I'm lonely... but not when your around... Never was as a child, you always treated me like an equal, even if I was a runty, akward little girl chasing after your dirt trails... and sometimes not wanted around."

Helnas Helnas had to share in her laughter as she revealed that she had indeed heard his father's marriage lecture. His chuckle grew into a true laugh when she commented on her sneaking tactics and the intriguing things that she had discovered with them. Her little eyebrow waggle made it even better. Helnas shook his head a little at the whole thing, then paused as she continued to speak. Was... was she alluding to him? Leona seem to sober a bit, even fidgetting as she offered her halting speech. Speaking of her own tribe, it was no wonder that she was nervous, really. For so long, the Loden had wondered where she had come from before they found her. Helnas watched the young woman and almost gave a start when she offered her confession. Confusion, guilt and affection played over the young man's features as he merely stared at her for a moment, seeming torn between the need to do something and his own shock. Finally, the need for action won out and he rose to his feet, moving to approach Leona. If she made no move to evade him, the young man crouched beside her and pulled her to him in a hug. "Leona, if I ever made you feel unwelcome, I assure you that I didn't mean to. I'm sorry; I never realized," Helnas said quietly, shaking his head slightly.

Leona Loden Leona would blink suddenly as she watched Helnas raise up. She had been watching him like a hawk as she confessed her real intentions, and her love of the lad. When he crouched beside her for a moment she was gripped with fear that he was going to deliver a firm, brotherly rebuke... Instead he hugged her and she about wept when he apologized. Such an odd, strange creature. Raised more Human than Therian. It took a few moments to register what he was saying and when it did she shook with soft laughter,"Helnas... We were children, I hold none of it against you. We both were still awkward, clumsy little cretins. You've had every reason not to notice and its ok. I just felt it.. right to atleast tell you how I felt. Good, or bad. I feel much better.. " But still, she lifted her arms and seemed to melt against the lad,"You smell... right." Even if she was denied the higher scent sensitivity in human for he still smelt good.

Helnas Helnas held the young woman to him, sorry beyond belief that he had hurt her somehow when they were growing up together. He had tried to welcome and look out for the tribeless girl; make her feel that she had a tribe in the Loden. When he apologized, he would have mistaken her shaking for sobs had she not spoke. He tightened his grip on her slightly, tucking his head down against hers with a soft sigh of relief when she proved it otherwise and absolved him of his failure to notice her interest. She noted that having informed him made her feel better. before melting into him with a comment on his smell. For a moment, the young man was torn. She had been raised as his sister, but... She wasn't. She had even found her own tribe. She was truly a willing adult woman of the plains now, unbound by blood. A rather lovely and clearly interested willing woman of the plains, a purely hormonal part of him insisted on reminding him. Something still nagged at him, trying to get around that hormonal response to provide logic. He simply held her, one hand straying to smooth of her hair gently, as he sought to work it out. After a few moments, he leaned back from her a little, just enough to look at her. "What exactly are you wanting, Leona? To pass the time with me until you return to your tribe, or something more? Will your tribe approve?" he asked soberly, watching her reactions carefully. Of course, he still had Banta to consider in all of this, but he would rather know Leona's intentions before making a decision.

Leona Leona was quite comfortably nestled up against Helnas by now, and when he asked her what she wanted, and if her tribe would approve she could only smile, "My tribe would willingly accept you... the Headwoman is in the nearby kingdoms where she's apparently won herself a mighty lord of her own in a bet no less, or so the rumor states. Regardless, You wouldn't have to live with us... You could continue to stay here in Loden.... I won't deny that we need support and help from amongst the other tribes and while it would be prudent to say that we'd be a bridge between clans..." She'd pause and close her eyes, "At least that's what the headswoman and perhaps your father might say, but between me and you... Or atleast from me to you, It'd be love..." Her face colored and she got sheepish as she spoke the last word quietly. She felt awkward all over again, suddenly the thirteen year old all knees and elbows little girl again....

Helnas The young woman smiled up at him at his query, claiming that her tribe would readily approve of him. Apparently their leader was courting a woodlander that she had... won? Leona assured him that he wouldn't even have to leave the Loden to be with her. Part of him felt a bit of curiosity at that. He wouldn't have to live with them. Did that mean she would leave the Loden again to stay with her tribe? Leona noted that their leaders would likely see their joining as an inter-tribal alliance and paused to close her eyes. She blushed, proclaiming that to her it would simply be a love-match. Helnas gathered the sheepish girl to him again, both to reassure her that he would not turn her aside at her words and to be able to think without his exression betraying his thoughts. She acknowledged that the tribe needed help. How bad was it? Bad enough for her Head Woman to send her home for an alliance? Oh, he didn't doubt Leona's feelings, just the ways they could be used by others. That aside, how would Banta take this new developement? He still wasn't entirely sure of her aspirations. He frowned slightly. He didn't want to hurt either of them. A slow sigh trickled from the young man's lips before he loosened his hold on Leona and shifted to sit on the ground beside her, legs protesting somewhat to the continued crouch. Offering an almost uncertain smile, he tugged at Leona, seeking to draw her down as well. "Let us see how things proceed tonight and the remainder of the hunting trip." His smile grew more teasing then. "I've already agreed to try to see you as a woman, rather than my little sister, haven't I?"

Leona Leona sheepishly nodded to him, silent now as she heard him out though obviously curious at the look he'd had on his face. Now that she'd not been rebuked and brushed aside she relaxed and leaned against him when he drew her down as well, she smiled slightly while she unpinned her hair and let it hand about her shoulders, head resting on her pack, "Yes, you did agree to that." All her sheepishness vanished like moisture in a heatwave as she turned those sapphire blues on Helnas, and grinned, "As for the rest of the trip... I hadn't planned anything...other than to get you alone for this..." She'd cough, "So... we can head back tomorrow... or spend the time foraging abroad I'm sure you have a mental list of things you'd like to keep an eye out for while we're out here, or things you'd like to pick my brain about." She'd shift so she leaned back on her pack instead of laying down, she felt the subtle thrum of the world about her, noticeably the urge to cast off her human form and roam... Reassert herself as the dominant animal in this area as she had when younger to keep the predators at bay, but that could come in time, as it were she found herself patiently waiting to answer anything Helnas may come up with...
