Rolling over onto his side Mat was finding very hard to wake up. His eyes opened slowly as he looked at the alarm clock, 8 am... It should be illegal to be up this early he thought. Letting out a low groan Mat sat up and scratched his head, the bright lights of the morning sun shining in through the window and reflecting off of his black eyes. Throwing his legs over the edge of the bed and reaching for the night stand he picked up a pack of cigarettes and lit one. Stand up slowly he stretched to remove the stiffness in his muscles before heading into the bathroom and turning on the shower. Picking up the prevous days paper and looking though the headlines as the water warmed, he came across a small artical about a stream of grave robberies that have taken place over the past month.
Shaking his head as he tossed the paper onto the sink and putting out the last of the cigarette he hopped into the shower. As the warm water ran over his skin Mat reached up to his left arm and touch the demon mark on his shoulder. The scar tissue as cold as ice, even the heat of the water did little to bring warmth to the cursed mark. This thoughts traveling back to those hellish years spent in that dank basement. His eyes closed as a hot tear ran down his cheek to join the rivers of hot water that cascaded down over his face. Jerking the water off and pulling the curtain aside, Mat stepped out and dryed off, a low growl slipping from deep within his throat as he tossed the towel aside and slid into jeans and a shirt. After pulling on his boots and grabbing his jean jacket he headed for the door.
